Infrared Sauna FAQs

  • The idea behind infrared therapy is to heat your body directly with infrared heat. In a traditional sauna you are just sitting in a hot room, 180-220 degrees. In an infrared sauna, the infrared is heating your body directly and 20% of the heat is heating the air. The idea is to increase thermal energy in the body so you want the infrared on your front core and your back core.

The infrared heat increases thermal energy and temporarily stimulates your lymphatic system, immune system and your cardiovascular system. Your body's response to that is to sweat profusely.

In addition to the infrared heat triggering a profuse sweat, the water in our body also resonates with far infrared heat and this also helps with the detoxification process.

  • Saunas are not recommended for children under 13, or people who are pregnant. If you suffer from a chronic illness, please consult with your medical doctor before using the sauna.

  • A traditional sauna uses convection and conduction to heat the surface of your skin. Infrared saunas, however, use infrared heating panels that emit light helping your body to detoxify, giving users a deeper cleansing experience.

  • Colour Light therapy, also known as Chromotherapy, is a technique of restoring balance by means of applying colour to the body. This is included in your session . Light Therapy has been reported, as part of a healthy lifestyle, to temporarily reduce swelling, relieve pain, decrease inflammation, accelerate open wound healing and greatly reduce overall recovery after medical/surgical procedures. Patients have demonstrated increased range of motion, decreased muscle tension and spasm, and improved circulation.

On arrival you select your preferred colour choice to use in your session.

  • This is entirely up to you! While it is completely safe to use the sauna daily, you might prefer to come 1-2 times per week depending on your lifestyle and goals.

  • Our Clearlight Sauna is uniquely designed to heal and detoxify by combining infrared light with chromotherapy. Using three separate wavelengths of infrared light, the radiant heat emitted from a full-spectrum sauna penetrates deeply into the muscles, joints, and body alleviating pain and removing impurities on a cellular level.

  • We recommend bringing a full water bottle, a book to read in the sauna, swimwear or underwear to wear during your sauna and some loose comfortable clothes to change into after. A Bluetooth speaker and connection is available if you’d like to listen to music, podcasts or meditations.

  • Before every sauna, you should ensure you are hydrated, have slept well the night before and have had a light meal two hours prior. We encourage you to arrive with a commitment to using the time to connect to your Self.

  • You can expect to sweat, detoxify and connect with your mind, body and spirit. Be open to the experience — it can be uncomfortable for some to begin with, but those who can refocus inwards will overcome any feelings of discomfort and get an enormous amount from the experience — physically and emotionally.

  • After your sauna, it’s important to rehydrate. Your body will lose electrolytes while you sweat so we encourage replenishing lost fluids with coconut water, available to purchase in the studio. It is recommended you shower 30 mins after completing your session for optimal detoxification. However, showers are available to use if required.

  • Our saunas accommodate 3 people at once so there is the option to use the time to connect with others by bringing additional guests to your booking ( $15 per person applies ) .

Aternativley your single booking can be used as time for you to connect to your self.

  • When we think of nutrition for the body, we usually think of food. Food is essential for our survival. We actually also need light on our bodies in the same way that we need food for our bodies. Red light therapy can be seen as nutrition for the body. The body especially needs light at certain wavelengths. Our bodies produce important elements by absorbing specific wavelengths of light. e.g. Vitamin D that our body creates when being in the sun.

Red light and near-infrared enhance the production of important elements like Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), which enhances energy in our cells and drives many processes in the body. By using RLT frequently we are able to artificially energise the cells in our body. The benefits of this are enormous and the research is profound.

  • During a red light therapy session, photoreceptors within our skin absorb red and near-infrared light. This light is converted into Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) in our mitochondria. Think of the mitochondria as power plants of our body and ATP as fuel for our cells. By converting red light and near-infrared into ATP we are essentially able to increase the energy in our cells. Amongst other things, this is for instance used to build new proteins such as collagen and elastin and assist with cellular regeneration. Red light therapy ensures our cells reach their potential and have the energy to perform optimally which results in a range of therapeutic benefits.

  • Simply add the Red Light Therapy option to your booking. Then sit on the sauna bench at approximately 30-45cm. It will operate for the first 20 mins of the session and will automatically switch off. Protective eyewear is not required.
